News From Rehearsal 04/15/2008

A big thank you from the Springfield Symphony Chorus to composer Jerry Noble who joined us at the beginning of rehearsal to hear our preparation of the Psalm 150 commissioned for our chorus. Jerry commented that some parts sounded hard, and clarified some of our questions. It was wonderful to work with Jerry, and he is looking forward to the public premiere in May. We do, too!

By the way, wonder what a timbrel is? Check it out on Wikipedia.

Election Updates:
  1. The By-Laws were voted as amended in rehearsal with one edit voted in during the amendment process (increasing the quorum at meetings in which voting occurs from 25% to 51%). These will be posted on the web site very shortly in their final form.
  2. Congratulations to our new Assistant Librarian, Donna R! Thanks for stepping up to the plate, and already putting up with humor regarding space in your basement! (Exactly how much did you say you have?)

Continue to work on all recital music, including the Psalm 150 - we have only two regular rehearsals and a dress rehearsal left until our first spring recital. Everything is coming together well, and a little work on the part of all members will assure a pair of beautiful recitals to close a very successful SSC year.

Don't forget the banquet is May 13; if you would like to sing, do a skit, or otherwise participate, please see Will. Please plan on attending this wonderful event where we are able to sit back and enjoy each other's company and celebrate the year!!
